Pole fitness or aerial hoop: which Burton class should you try?

Compare pole fitness and aerial hoop at A-Core in Burton-on-Trent, from the equipment and class focus to choosing a session at the right level.

Pole fitness and aerial hoop both combine movement with learning new skills, but they feel different in practice. If you are looking for a fitness class in Burton-on-Trent and cannot choose between them, start with what interests you about the equipment and the type of movement you want to explore.

What is pole fitness?

Pole Fitness uses a vertical pole to explore movements such as spins, poses, transitions and, as appropriate to your level, climbs. A taught session lets you develop technique with an instructor rather than trying to copy advanced moves on your own. At A-Core, check each timetable session for beginner or mixed-ability suitability.

What is aerial hoop?

Aerial Hoop uses a suspended circular apparatus, also called a lyra. Classes explore positions, transitions and combinations on the hoop. You will be learning how to work with a different shape and contact points from a pole. Our class description welcomes beginners and experienced aerialists, with progressions chosen for different levels.

How do I choose a first session?

Look at the class descriptions and current session levels, then choose the activity you are most curious about. Let your instructor know if you are new to the equipment. You do not have to commit to a long programme before asking questions about how the session works. If availability matters most, compare the live timetable for both classes.

Will the same clothing work for both?

Clothing needs differ between apparatus. Pole work often uses skin contact for grip, while coverage can be useful for hoop work. Ask the studio what to wear for your booked session and avoid buying specialist equipment before you know what is needed. Bring water and remove jewellery that could catch on the equipment.

Where can I try them locally?

A-Core Fitness & Dance offers Pole Fitness and Aerial Hoop at 171 High Street, Burton-on-Trent, DE14 1JE. All sessions listed here take place at the Burton studio. If you are travelling from Swadlincote, Tutbury or Willington, use the studio postcode to plan your journey and check session availability before setting off.

Can I try both?

You can choose different eligible classes when booking with a class pass, subject to available sessions and the pass terms. Compare the credits and validity dates on the passes page, then pick a schedule that works for you. The current timetable is the source for dates, prices and available places.
